Al-Gharraf Contingency Planning for Rapid Evacuation put to the test.
Following recent disruption to the operations of International Oil Service companies in southern Iraq, Al-Gharraf as an Iraqi company, has in place contingency plans to evacuate all expat staff in case of an emergency while maintaining operations using all Iraqi.
While the Basra region of Iraq has been generally stable, incidents in November 2013 led to multiple camps of International companies being evacuated of their expat staff.
When asked how Al-Gharraf managed to continue it’s operations, Ibrahim Marzooq, Operations Manager for Catering commented “As an Iraqi company, Al-Gharraf is committed to developing local National staff in the country and maintaining strong relationships in the communities it operates in. This includes hiring local staff that are trained and developed over the long-term, so when an emergency such as this occurs, we are still able to maintain a reasonable service using only Iraqi staff.”
Following these recent incidents and at the request of International clients, Al-Gharraf has put in place formal contingency plans to cope with such incidents.
